The ensemble video game cast is wonderful and the scene cinematography delivers in key moments, while the less-important characters that populate each area get their time to shine, whether its emotionally or humorously. Protagonist Sakamoto Ryoma begins a journey of revenge during this era that sees him rub shoulders with dozens of important political figures while simultaneously playing a key role in the future of Japan.

Obviously, is not exactly what international fans of the series might expect at first glance based on the name alone. was a turn-based RPG set in modern times with a new protagonist; is a time period piece with Kiryu's face transplanted onto a hero. That said, the series' charisma and deft world design remain evident throughout the experience. Each environment is interesting, with a slew of items available to pick up while fighting in Brawler style.
