Blizzard revealed nearly all the Hero Talent Trees with the launch of the War Within Alpha and subsequent builds.
Our Elemental Shaman guide writer, HawkCorrigan, offers an early review of the Stormbringer Hero Talents, a well-designed tree where everything fits together with a distinct through line, but seems to ignore the realities of the Lightning Elemental Shaman build.
The Stormbringer tree seems to try to answer a simple question: «What makes Elemental Shaman unique?» The Answer? Zaps.
As the only Lightning spec in the game (Looking very, very carefully at you Mountain Thane Warrior), Elemental Shaman distinguishes itself visually by the Chain Lightnings and Lightning Bolts it is throwing out. Where «Fire spells» are shared with at least three other Ranged DPS Casters, no one controls the Lightning quite like Elemental does.
The Stormbringer Hero Tree adds another Lightning spell to our arsenal. Tempest is a new spell that tries to act as an amplifier in the Lightning damage profile. It further links our spenders into the mix, adding more payoffs for using your spenders in lightning builds.
Let's start with the simple, passive talents first and get those out of the way:
Voltaic Surge increases the damage done by our AoE spells, Chain Lightning and Earthquake. Tempest increases crit damage and crit chance of your lightning spells.
