“It’s a few days before Christmas, and six-year-old Sally longs for someone to play with. Unfortunately, Sally’s family is too preoccupied to pay her any attention. With only minutes to go until their yearly holiday party, it becomes clear; everyone in the family is hiding something from Sally,” reads the synopsis. “In an effort to get Sally out of the kitchen, her mom sends her on an impossible mission: getting the potatoes from the pantry. Sally gets a fantastic idea to use her housekeeper’s rolling laundry hamper to cart the heavy load, but the shiny distraction of her teenage sister’s clothes and makeup brings Sally back to what she does best. On the brink of getting caught, Sally decides to jump into the rolling laundry hamper to hide and embarks on an unintentional journey into adulthood.”
Sally, Get the Potatoes is written and directed by Danicah Waldo, a former child actor who has been creating kids-led narrative short films for the Applause New York YouTube channel, which currently has 1.5 million subscribers. The film stars Kynlee Heiman as Sally, Amanda Ferguson as Lydia, Clark Carmichael as Set, Travis Doughty as Auggie, Charlie Ferrara as Freddie, Bohdana Madlova as Magdalena, and Quinn Hemphill as Mariah. The film is executive produced by Ashley Garrett, Ginnie Gillen, and Leela Malladi, Morgan Zoia, with Jess DuBois, Sarah Parr, and Cade Waldo serving as producers.
