Dawntrail is coming, and with preparations to depart to Tural in place, it’s time for the final pre-launch maintenance. Therefore, this is your reminder that Final Fantasy 14 will go down for 48 hours tonight in order to launch the 7.0 patch for Dawntrail and its massive updates.
The length of the patch maintenance, as previously explained by the team, is to allow players to actually download and install the massive 7.0 patch. This time around, the PC and PS4 patch sizes are about 50-55GB, and Xbox players will essentially have to overwrite the entire game, leading to about a 100GB download, so it's fair rationale.
FFXIV goes down for Dawntrail maintenance at 2:00 a.m. PDT (5:00 a.m. EDT) and will remain down for all of 48 hours.
TheDawntrail/7.0 patch itself will be available to download at different times depending on platform. Console players—that is, players on PS4, PS5, and the Xbox Series X|S—will see the download available earlier, on June 26, around 4:00 a.m. PDT (7:00 a.m. EDT). PC players, both on Steam and the native downloader versions, will be able to download it the next day, June 27, around 8:00 a.m. PDT (11:00 a.m. EDT).
Once everything’s squared away, the estimated ending time of the Dawntrail maintenance is June 28, around 2:00 a.m. PDT (5:00 a.m. EDT), that promised 48-hour mark after the start.
Will the Dawntrailmaintenance end early? No, probably not. Historically, maintenance doesn’t tend to end early in order to give everyone a fair chance at entering the expansion on time, and this reasoning doubly applies given the developers have expressed expectations of congestion already. Plus, as a reminder, the maintenance length is also about more equity in download and installation times, and ending too early would undermine that.
In the meantime, that download time is a great opportunity to read the new 7.0 Preliminary Patch Notes that just dropped, if you haven’t already. Maybe pore over them a bit here or Reddit. Go fix your character in the
