Last Epoch is getting its first major post-launch update, Harbingers of Ruin, on July 9th. The Eleventh Hour Games team has a new trailer and details on what to expect in the update.
This is a huge update, so the team is outlining some of the new features we will see. The first addition is the introduction of the Evade mechanic, something the community has requested for a while now. All classes will gain access to evade from level 1 with two default charges and a 4-second cooldown. As you level up, you’ll be able to evade more often and cooldown will decrease. The idea is to add a new defense option that also increases mobility.
This mechanic will let you avoid some enemy attacks, but there will be no immunity to anything while you evade, so you can still take damage. The existing Dodge mechanic will mitigate some damage so the team wants to make sure that these two remain distinct.
Harbingers of Ruin will also introduce Nemesis, a new random encounter system. There’s a chance you’ll run into an unlucky dead warrior. The slain warriors' armor will be circling its body and you’ll have a choice to make. Interact with the body and banish it, to avoid a fight and change the possible loot for a future encounter, challenge the Nemesis to get a chance at the items it carries if you win, or empower it. It will drop its items and flee if you win, and you will encounter the same Nemesis later, with improved versions of the same items. Doing this gives access to certain Legendaries, affixes and upgrades.
As for those Harbingers? Defeat your first one and meet the Forgotten Knights Faction,. There are Harbingers in each of the 10 timelines. They mainly come in “Agile” and “Brute” varieties, And this should give you some idea of what to expect. if you can manage to defeat the Harbingers in all timelines, then you will get access to the Pinnacle Boss, Last Epoch’s most difficult yet, where you’ll face Aberroth in a fight that will take you
