Production on a movie adaptation of martial arts action game Sifu continues, and according to Deadline, Netflix has joined in. Along with Netflix, 87Eleven Entertainment and Chad Stahelski (of John Wick fame) are also part of the production, along with T.S. Nowlin, who will be working on the movie’s script.
Stahelski and 87Eleven Entertainment are working on a number of movies, including an upcoming adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima alongside Sony. They’re also creating a Rainbow Six movie based on Tom Clancy’s original works, and a remake of action movie Highlander with Lionsgate.
Nowlin is also known for his work in writing for movie adaptations, previously having worked on The Maze Runner, and more recently, Netflix’s The Adam Project.
Originally released all the way back in 2022, Sifu is a story about a young martial artist setting forth to get revenge on a criminal enterprise that was responsible for the death of their master. The game features a unique mechanic where dying ages the protagonist up, making their moves more lethal, but also reducing their max HP.
