EA Sports FC 25 is adding several much-requested community features to Ultimate Team.
The headline feature is duplication storage, which will allow players to store up to 100 duplicate player items in Ultimate Team, for later use in Squad Building Challenges.
Currently, when a player receives a duplicate item, until they are able to put it in a Squad Building Challenge, or discard it, the item stops players from opening packs. Now, with duplicate storage, up to 100 items will be housed in their own menu, meaning players can otherwise proceed as normal with the game.
A duplicate storage feature was previously tested in Ultimate Team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup expansion, but since then the feature has been absent.
Another significant change to Ultimate Team is coming in the form of Evolutions, which EA claims will be increased in frequency by “7 times.” EA said players will not have to be as precious about which players they include in Evolutions as a far greater number of Evolution items will be released throughout the year.
Players will now also be able to customise Evolution items by changing the colour, the animation, and some decorative elements around the item. Fireworks and sound effects will also be able to be applied to the items, however it’s unclear how this will manifest in-game.
Rush, the new 5v5 game mode which will see teams of four human-controlled players and an AI goalkeeper compete on a small pitch, will also be included in Ultimate Team. Players will bring one item from their team into the mode. Playing in Rush will also contribute to objectives and Evolution progress.
The EA Sports FC 25 release date is September 27, 2024. Players who purchase the Ultimate edition will receive seven days of early access, beginning on September 20.
