In , Season 5 had an incredible launch, with this season's activity being Blizzard's best addition to the game yet. The classes have never felt more balanced, giving players the freedom to build the character they will have the most fun with. Leveling to 100 has also never been so easy, with the addition of the Infernal Hordes seasonal activity.
This new activity is Blizzard's addition of a horde mode to the game's roster of activities. Players have been begging for a horde mode in Diablo IV, and Blizzard has finally answered their calls. The amount of loot players can acquire from successful runs of the Infernal Hordes is absurd, allowing for faster gear acquisition than ever before. The rework to unique items in Season 5 incentivizes players to go out of their way to grind for them, as they were not nearly potent enough before to justify the amount of time it could take to get a good roll.
Season 5 of Diablo 4 introduces Mother's Gifts, or special items dropped by powerful enemies that you can get to unlock many tiers of rare rewards.
The Infernal Hordes is more of an endgame activity, so it is not accessible immediately after creating a new character. However, it will become available once you reach World Tier III and have completed Locran's questline. Once you reach Nightmare World Tier in , you will have to assist Locran at Rakhat Keep to unlock the final step in the questline: To the Edge of the Abyss.
Enter the Hellgate with Locran to fight through massive waves of enemies to reach the Fell Council. Once you have defeated the Fell Council, you will be rewarded with an Infernal Hordes Compass and the ability to access the activity. These Compasses are quite similar to Nightmare Dungeon Sigils, as you activate them within your inventory to immediately warp into the activity.
Infernal Hordes Compasses cost 125 Sigil Powder instead of Nightmare Dungeons' 75 Sigil Powder.
You can go about obtaining additional Infernal Hordes Compasses in a multitude of ways.
