Diablo 4’s Season of the Infernal Hordes is now live, bringing a new horde mode (duh), sweeping balance changes, and adds tons of new items into the game.
This season’s most notable feature is the introduction of a new roguelite endgame experience called Infernal Hordes. This wave based mode is notable not only as a new way to play Diablo 4 but also for the fact its taking players back to Hell for the first time since launch.
Infernal Hordes will see players fight to survive against 90 second waves of enemies that increase in difficulty with each wave. At the conclusion of a wave, players can select from a number of Boons and Banes to modify the experience, potentially making it more difficult for greater rewards.
There are dozens of new items in the update as well, including new Uniques, which have been significantly buffed across the board.
On the balance side of things, Rogue and Sorcerer are finally back in top shape after a mostly disappointing showing last season. Both classes are up at the top of the performance charts. It’s still early and players are figuring things out, but there’s lots of potential for builds across the board with all of the new items.
