Geralt of Rivia looks to be set for a return in CD Projekt Red’s next entry in series, but not in the way one might think. The White Wolf won’t be the main focus, according to the character’s voice actor in the latest .
In a recent interview with Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle, he explained that The Witcher 4 would feature the beloved series’ protagonist, but he would not be the newest entry’s star.
“We know that Geralt will be part of the game, we just don’t know how much. The game won’t focus on Geralt, so it’s not about him this time,” said Cockle to Fall Damage (via VGC). “We don’t know who it’s about, I’m excited to find out!”
While Geralt’s involvement in The Witcher 4 is somewhat known, Cockle has not yet seen a script for the game.
There isn’t much information out on The Witcher 4 at present. However, it was confirmed that CD Projekt Red has over 400 developers working on the project, codenamed Polaris. Additionally, CEO Michal Nowakowski had stated in an investor call back in May that they wanted to “push the boundaries and discover new ways of telling story,” in comparison to The Witcher 3. How the developer will do those things has yet to be revealed.
In other The Witcher news, Netflix’s The Witcher Season 4 is on its way. However, Liam Hemsworth has taken over the role of Geralt of Rivia as Henry Cavill left the project back in 2022. Although Season 4 has yet to be released, the show was renewed for a fifth and final season.
CD Projekt Red currently has multiple projects in the works, including a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, a Molasses Flood developed The Witcher game codenamed Sirius, and a new IP.
