Trainers looking to test their mettle in the Battle League without needing endless amounts of Stardust and Candy can find the perfect chance with the Great League. This is the game's entry-level League, where Pokémon over 1500 CP aren't allowed to enter, so reaching your entire team's full potential shouldn't be too costly or time-consuming.
Although the Great League meta has remained stable for a while, the arrival of the new Max Out season has seen the entire Battle League go through a major transformation, with loads of top-tier moves being nerfed and others getting performance boosts. There are four Pokémon to catch in Spotlight Hours during September, as well as bonuses like double catch XP to make the most of in Pokémon GO.
Of course, this means you'll want a Clodsire on your team, but you'll also want something that can comfortably counter it, as you're most likely going to be facing a lot of them throughout the Max Out season (and probably beyond that, too). A good counter to have is Feraligatr. Not only can it beat Clodsire under the right circumstances, but it's also hot on its heels
