Questions about what exactly Bluepoint Games is working on have been growing louder and louder as time goes by without an official absence from the studio or from PlayStation, and though it still remains to be seen when exactly an official announcement might arrive, one of it developers has provided a brief update.
When Bluepoint Games was acquired by PlayStation in 2021, it was also revealed that the studio’s next project wasn’t going to be a remake, in spite of the success it enjoyed with the 2018 and 2020 remakes of Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls respectively. Taking to Twitter, Bluepoint’s head of technology has reiterated that, stating that Bluepoint Games’ next game is “an original title”.
As for when it will be unveiled, Dalton remained once again vague on that matter, saying, “Everything takes time. We are committed to sharpening our skills!”
What exactly “original content” means here remains to be seen, of course- whether that’s an entirely new IP or maybe a new instalment in an existing franchise. Either way, it’s clear that the studio’s charting a new path and moving away from remakes. Hopefully, we’ll get some more concrete details in the not-too-distant future.
Nothing has changed since our statement that we are working on an original title. Everything takes time. We are committed to sharpening our skills!
