Funcom is changingConan Exiles’ update cadence and structure, ending Battle Passes, and continuing with additional in-between updates, including one released this week.
The next Age is in development, but the window is still to be announced. We can expect more details in August, which makes sense with their new release cadence. Since the Age of Sorcery and revamped game, Conan Exiles was getting new content about every three months. Going forward, new chapter updates will come about every six months, with smaller updates in between with changes, minor additions, and events. The team’s reasoning for the change is the three-month “cadence is not quite our sweet spot; where we are completely happy with the quality, the quantity, and the type of content we are releasing”.
With this change they're looking to fully flesh out these larger Chapter updates and continue to release smaller updates in between, hopefully making sure those big chapter updates are as polished as they can be. Along with this change, they are ending new Battle Passes after the current season ends, choosing to devote all dev time to the chapters and updates and rolling some content intended for Battle Pass into upcoming free updates. The bazar will continue to be updated with new items.
This week’s update is one of those in-between updates. It brings back bounty hunting and tweaks followers to should increase their durability and usefulness. Followers will now have an optional Down But Not Out mechanic (which you can toggle in server settings). When enabled, if your follower takes fatal damage, they won't just die, they'll fall and start to bleed out and you have a chance to perform a rallying cry that will revive them. If you are too late, that follower will die (and golems can't fall and bleed out so they will just continue to fall as before). There are certain conditions to be met when using this new mechanic, but it should prove helpful.
