With the release of a few days away, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has come out to address the hype around it. In a recent interview, the 51-year-old Disney executive disclosed certain details about Marvel’s upcoming appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con. Kevin Feige also provided insight into the recent resurgence of superhero movies while explaining the psyche behind keeping moviegoers captivated.
According to Kevin Feige, the secret behind creating an engaging superhero movie is to approach it like any other film.
Despite having headed Marvel Studios for over 17 years, the Iron Man executive producer believes that caped heroes don’t have a genre of their own when it comes to films. While talking to Deadline, Kevin Feige also explained the ideology that enables him to make great superhero movies.
When asked about what is needed to keep the superhero hype up among the audiences, he stated, “I think the answer to that question is the same answer to movies in general: making engaging, entertaining films that have to be experienced in a theater with a crowd and is worth people getting into their cars and making the trip.”
Feige also highlighted the importance of creating something that can catch the attention of people despite them having readily available content on their phones. The Marvel veteran said, “We as a Hollywood industry need to make [a] product that stands above all of that and that represents a destination entertainment that you can’t get anywhere else.”
Kevin Feige went on to expand his advice from just superhero movies to include Hollywood in general. Reiterating the essence of the entertainment industry, Feige stated, “That’s our job as the 100-year-old Hollywood industry — to remind people that we have the best storytellers and can provide the best entertainment in the world.”
As long as creators continue to introduce fresh ways of enthralling audiences with the best material, the entertainment sector will keep blossoming, as per Feige.
