Some big changes are coming to The Division 2 in Year 6. The team revealed its plans for the looter shooter at this year’s Ubisoft Forward, and it includes a massive shake up of the game’s seasonal model.
Following the conclusion of the game’s current season, The Division 2 will follow a more Diablo style seasonal model by introducing seasonal characters. For the unfamiliar, this model encourages players to create new characters each season and this typically allows the developers to provide a unique experience every season that doesn’t need to account for the overall balance of the game or the legacy of existing characters.
Progression for these seasonal characters will be accelerated so that players can reach endgame quicker each season. At the conclusion of a season, all experience and items will be transferred to the player’s primary character.
Ubisoft has more in store, too. Year 6 of The Division 2 will also see the release of a new DLC that brings players back to Brooklyn, NY. The studio isn’t providing any more details at this time, but the New York setting has long been a fan favorite and players are sure to be excited to go back and explore old haunts.
