Daredevil star Charlie Cox has addressed his involvement in Disney+’s upcoming animated series, which is scheduled to make its debut later this year.
During a recent appearance at the Fan Expo Boston 2024, Cox has revealed that he had already finished recording his voiceover as Matt Murdock/ Daredevil for the Spider-Man series three years ago. Despite this, he admitted that he hasn’t really gotten the chance to see a preview of the new show other than the early drawings of it. Besides Your Friendly Neighboor Spider-Man, Cox will also next be seen in Daredevil: Born Again.
“I went into the studio and did some voiceover for that a long time ago. Years ago, during when I was shooting She-Hulk, so I think that was 2021,” Cox said (via ComicBook). “I’ve just seen a couple of scenes that I’ve voiced. And I haven’t even seen the scenes, I just saw the early drawings of it. That’s all I know. “I haven’t seen any of it, I have no idea what the story is, but it’s cool. It’s cool that [Daredevil’s] in it. I’m excited about it.”
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is written and executive produced by Jeff Trammel. It follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man, with a journey unlike any we’ve seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots. It is said to take place in an alternate timeline of the MCU. It features the voices Hudson Thames as Peter Parker, Eugene Byrd as Lonnie Lincoln, Grace Song as Nico Minoru, Hugh Dancy as Otto Octavius, Kari Wahlgren as Aunt May, and Zeno Robinson as Harry Osborn.
During the Marvel Animation panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Charlie Cox will be reprising his role as Matthew Murdock/ Daredevil in Disney+’s upcoming Spider-Man: Freshman Year series. Besides Daredevil, it will also introduce other Marvel characters such as Amadeus Cho, Rhino, Scorpion, Speed Demon, and Tarantula.
