No Man's Sky has just released a 4.13 patch to the recent major Fractal update, addressing an impressive number of issues related to crashes, performance, and the recently revamped VR features. Unfortunately, No Man's Sky players are reporting serious issues after the 4.13 patch such as crashes on startup and other game-breaking bugs that mar an otherwise stellar update.
No Man's Sky is one of the most storied games in recent memory, with years of hype leading up to the 2016 release and a gaming industry expecting nothing short of a revolutionary experience. The final product was a major disappointment to many, earning Hello Game's debut title the unfortunate nickname «No Man's Lie.» In the years that followed, No Man's Sky's incredible comeback has nearly undone the damage from its controversial release. Countless major updates to the game have revamped virtually every feature while adding plenty of new ones, and Hello Games doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon.

Today's 4.13 patch addressed a significant number of critical issues, but gamers on Reddit and the Steam forum have been reporting crashes on startup since updating and other bugs that prevent players from fully scanning a planet's lifeforms.
It's likely going to take Hello Games a bit more work to iron out the issues from the Fractal update
