Fans of Diablo IV have faced hours-long queue times after the action role-player game’s early access beta release went live on Friday.
In its initial post(Opens in a new window) on the wait time, game developer Activision Blizzard told fans that it was “actively working through some issues behind the scenes that have been affecting players and causing them to be disconnected from the servers. This is done so we can ensure stability among players who get into the game after the queue process.”
Blizzard further told players waiting in line to play that they should stay in the login queue to avoid resetting their timer.
Fans of the hotly anticipated RPG took to social media to complain about the long wait times. Jason Schreier, a reporter at Bloomberg, tweeted(Opens in a new window) a screenshot of a Diablo login screen that showed 95 minutes left on the timer.
He did however add he was “very impressed with Diablo IV so far (when the beta actually works),” and said that the “skill tree seems interesting, the music rules, and the new approach to story-telling is cool.”
It appears the login issues were resolved by late Saturday, as Blizzard told fans in a post(Opens in a new window) on its official forum that a hotfix that had been pushed that day “contains updates to improve server stability issues.” The developer added: “We will continue to share updates as we hear back from the team. Thanks again for your patience and understanding—we appreciate you all so much.”
Diablo IV, which is set to officially launch on June 6, will launch as an open beta on March 24 - 26. Fans of the game that are subscribed to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass learned last week that the game would not be available on either service
