The Last of Us was a massive hit when Naughty Dog released the game for the PlayStation 3, and it wasn’t long before we received a remastered edition of the game. However, years later, we found a new resurgence for the IP. Thanks to HBO’s live-action adaptation of the game, there are now fans who are flocking to the games that might have passed them up initially. But we know the folks at HBO were quick to green-light a season two. We might have some bad news if you were hopeful that the filming would be sooner than later. It looks like the production is still early into the next season.
Recently, there was a panel at NAB in Las Vegas. This event, which was covered and reported by Deadline, unveiled some of the details revealed so far about what the future holds for The Last of Us. On the panel included Craig Mazin, the co-creator of the HBO live-action adaptation of The Last of Us. Speaking on the matter, Craig says that they should be around for a while. So don’t expect just one more season of The Last of Us, so we should HBO green light additional seasons for the show as they continue to chart out the future of the IP.
After all, it wasn’t long ago that Craig Mazin noted that the following game, The Last of Us Part II, was too large for just one more season. We just don’t know how much more the show will continue on and if there are plans to include more content in the seasons that were not previously covered in the video games. Right now, it’s stated that the next season is scripting stage, but once done, we should see filming in British Columbia.
