The Last of Us blew up immensely when it was first released, and recently it had a new resurgence. Thanks to the hit HBO series live-action adaptation, fans are falling in love with the cinematic storyline and characters all over again. But fans that enjoyed the video games know the next installment is going to have some big moments right out of the gate. For those of you who are already dreading the worst and hopeful that this upcoming season might hold some punches, the showrunner has already stated that they have no problem killing off characters.
Actor Pedro Pascal is thriving in his career with the hit Disney live-action series The Mandalorian and now HBO’s live-action adaptation of The Last of Us, fans are enjoying his work. But that might come to an end for The Last of Us. If you played through the second installment of The Last of Us, then you know that Joel meets his demise rather early into the narrative. It’s a gory and emotional scene, so fans best prepare to see this play out, as it doesn’t look like there’s any hesitation about killing anyone off.
In a recent interview with Esquire, Craig Mazin, the showrunner for The Last of Us, noted that it should be fairly obvious to anyone by now, but he doesn’t fear killing characters. However, he goes on to state that he doesn’t feel constrained by the source material. Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal noted to the publication that it wouldn’t make sense to follow the first game faithfully only for the adaptation to stray severely from the path.
