Bungie and Guerrilla Games have each released statements on the passing of actor Lance Reddick.
The actor, who featured prominently in Bungie’s Destiny 2 and Guerrilla’s Horizon series, died at his home on Friday. He was 60 years old.
Following the news, both studios have issued statements in memory of the veteran actor who played Commander Zavala in Destiny 2, and provided the voice and facial capture for Sylens in the Horizon franchise.
Bungies’s statement reads: “Lance Reddick was an iconic presence on screen, in Destiny, and most importantly, in person. His love for our community shined through in Commander Zabala in his uncompromising dedication to his craft, and out of the radiating kindness that touched those around him. To say he will be missed is a profound understatement, yet no less true.”
Reddick played Commander Zavala, the game’s most prominent NPC, since the release of Destiny. Reddick appeared in the game as recently as last month’s Lightfall expansion.

We were deeply honored to work with you. You will be missed. We extend our most heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.”
Reddick played Sylens in both Horizon: Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West. It’s unclear if he’ll appear in the upcoming expansion Horizon: Forbidden West Burning Shores.
