Actor Lance Reddick, best known for his role as Cedrick Daniels in the hit HBO series The Wire, has passed away at the age of 60. TMZ was first to report, with Variety subsequently confirming with his reps that the causes were natural.
Reddick had been in the middle of a press tour for the upcoming fourth installment of the John Wick franchise, in which he played the character Charon. However, he did not attend the New York City premiere of the movie and--as TMZ also reported--instead posted a selfie video on social media from home with his dogs, without any explanation for his absence.
In addition to The Wire and John Wick, Lance had recurring roles on popular TV shows such as Fringe, Bosch, Oz, and Lost. He also appeared in films like Angel Has Fallen and Godzilla Vs. Kong. Reddick was also a voice actor for many video games including a long-running role in Destiny and Destiny 2 as Commander Zavala, who has been one of the key characters in the series. He has also been featured in the Horizon series, Quantum Break, and John Wick Hex.
Lance had several unreleased projects in the works, including playing the Greek god Zeus in the upcoming Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Lance earned a music degree from the University of Rochester and later obtained his MFA from Yale.
