John Wick: Chapter 4 is about to hit theaters, and it's expected to make more money than the last film. As such, people are already wondering if there will be a fifth John Wick film. Director Chad Stahelski addressed this in a new interview, saying he and star Keanu Reeves are «done for the moment.»
«We're going to give John Wick a rest,» Stahelski told The Hollywood Reporter.
He added that he's sure John Wick studio Lionsgate «has a plan» for the future of John Wick, but he either doesn't know what it is or doesn't want to talk about it just yet.
If John Wick: Chapter 4 does big numbers as it's expected to, Stahelski said he will sit down with Reeves, drink booze, and map out the next John Wick movie.
«Keanu and I will take the long trip to Tokyo, we'll sit in the Imperial Hotel Scotch Bar and go, 'What do you think?' We'll have a couple 20-year-old whiskies and write some ideas on napkins. If those ideas stick, maybe we'll make a movie,» Stahelski said.
Beyond the John Wick series, Stahelski has a number of other projects in the works, including the Ghost of Tsushima movie and a new Rainbow Six film.
John Wick: Chapter 4 hits theaters on March 24, and the first reviews are very strong. A spin-off movie starring Ana de Armas called Ballerina is in the works, too, with Reeves set for a cameo. Beyond film, Lionsgate has been fielding proposals for a AAA John Wick video game.
