Galaxy S23 Ultra Is 30% Slower In Fast Charging As Compared To Galaxy S22 Ultra, Shows New Report

There is no denying that for some years, Samsung has been releasing some stellar devices and not just in the flagship segment. Even the more affordable offerings from the company are excellent, but the latest Galaxy S23 series, especially the Galaxy S23 Ultra, knocks it out of the park as it is one of the most critically acclaimed phones of this year. Sadly, however, there appears to be an issue causing the phone to charge drastically slower than its predecessor.

Now, the Galaxy S23 series is pretty good because the Ultra and Plus variant can both charge at 45W, which is plenty for wired charging, and wireless charging is limited to 15W, which is not a lot by modern standards. Still, most people prefer their phone batteries to remain safe rather than having faster charging times.

Based on a test by PhoneArena, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is around 30% slower than the Galaxy S22 Ultra while charging at the same speed. The phone takes 2 hours and 37 minutes to charge fully, whereas the Galaxy S22 Ultra takes 1 hour and 48 minutes. This distinction might not make a lot of difference to people, but this does raise a question about the discrepancy despite both phones having the same 5,000 mAh battery and the same 15W charging speed. The same results can be seen across the board with phones of the same family, but the difference is not as drastic.  You can see the table below showing the charging speeds of various phones.

Sadly, at the time of writing, there is no word as to why the Galaxy S23 Ultra, in particular, is behaving the way it is. Samsung has not commented on the situation either.
