Developer TT Games was working on several different projects that have since been canceled, including a LEGO Disney game. The ever-popular LEGO franchise already had several memorable video games to its name before Traveller’s Tales released the original LEGO Star Wars in 2005, but the success of this title spawned a series of family-friendly collect-a-thons that brought the brand to new heights in the gaming world.
This would culminate in last year’s LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which earned praise for evolving the tried-and-true LEGO formula and sold over 3.2 million copies within the first two weeks of its release alone. TT Games has released LEGO titles based on other Disney-owned properties as well, including two LEGO Indiana Jones games and several LEGO Marvel Super Heroes titles. Naturally, some fans have wondered what a TT Games-developed LEGO game inspired by the House of Mouse’s other major franchises would be like — and it turns out they were very close to getting one.
LEGO Teases Big Reveal At Mario Day
According to a recent report by Nintendo Life, TT Games was working on a LEGOgame based on various Disney properties like Jungle Book, Nightmare Before Christmas, Pirates of the Caribbean, Maleficent, Muppets, Frozen, Toy Story, and Winnie the Pooh. Internally referred to as “Project Marley,” this massive crossover would have had players exploring a large overworld and Diablo-like dungeons to defeat a villainous purple force corrupting the environment. Unfortunately, the project was ultimately scrapped after four years of development.
