Konami has frequently introduced new banlist updates to Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel with the goal of addressing problematic cards and decks. Each new month typically comes with an update to the banlist affecting a variety of cards, with powerful cards like «True King of All Calamities» and «Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds» being removed. The February banlist gave a preemptive hit to the Spright archetype leading up to its release, banning «Toadally Awesome» as well as «Union Carrier.» Now, Runick is the main target of Konami's newest balance update.

Konami officially revealed the March 2023 banlist update on Tuesday evening with a handful of cards being moved around the Forbidden and Limited List, mainly singling out the Runick archetype. «Amano-Iwato» will be moved from three copies to one with the powerful Monster card locking your opponent out of card effects, protecting Runick players from interruptions like «Ash Blossom and Joyous Spring.» Three other Runick Spells will be moved to Semi-Limited status with «Runick Destruction,» «Runick Slumber,» and «Runick Freezing Curses» all set to two copies.
