Netflix has shared the first official clip from Season 4 of The Witcher, which gives us a sneak peek at Liam Hemsworth's take on Geralt of Rivia after replacing Henry Cavill.
Although The Witcher started off as a big success on Netflix and arguably kickstarted the ongoing trend of video game adaptations that Hollywood seems momentarily obsessed with, it's fair to say that the reception to it has soured between its first and third seasons. That critical magnifying glass wasn't helped when it was revealed that Henry Cavill would no longer be playing Geralt of Rivia in the show's fourth season.
When Cavill's departure from the show was announced, it was revealed that Liam Hemsworth would be taking up the steel and silver swords and playing Geralt for the final season of The Witcher. Fans have not-so-eagerly been waiting to see what Hemsworth would look like as Geralt, and Netflix has answered those calls by releasing a first look at the show's fourth season.
Over on its YouTube channel, Netflix shared a "first look" at The Witcher Season 4 through a short clip that doesn't reveal much besides what Liam Hemsworth will look like as Geralt. The clip shows everyone's favourite Witcher walking through a misty forest alongside Roach, teasing Hemsworth's portrayal of the character before finally giving us a proper look at him in action.
We only get to see a very brief glimpse at Hemsworth as Geralt, but he certainly fits the part better than most of us imagined when he was said to be taking on the role. Of course, his acting ability is going to be the most important part of him taking over from Cavill, but we don't get to see any of that in the short teaser. Let's hope a future trailer gives us a bit more to go off of.
At the very least, we can say that Hemsworth has mastered the iconic Geralt glare. Let's hope he gets the rest of the character as well as Cavill did.
