As so many Tarnished taught Margit the Fell Omen last year, the flame of ambition can be a difficult thing to extinguish. So, it should come as no surprise that the series based on Japan’s most famously ambitious figure is will soon be back again with a new entry. It’s already out in Japan, but strategy fans will be able to check out Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening once it releases for PC, PlayStation 4 and Switch on July 20.
In Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening, conquering territory seems to only be the beginning. Once an area is taken, it will need to be held, and doing so will require choosing competent retainers to manage it and working to ensure that they remain loyal to the cause. Players will be able to do this by listening to their proposals, developing their lands or negotiating with them directly.
When it comes to conquest in Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening, it’s looking like terrain is going to be very important here. It seems that even choosing the right marching route is going to be vital; get it wrong and the siege likely won’t go so easily. Still, this is the Warring States Period, so having the right alliances might be enough to overcome it. Have a look at the most recent trailer below for an overview and check out our review of Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi for an idea of how these series plays.
