Night School Studios has announced that Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals will be released across Switch, PlayStation 5 and 4, PC and mobile via Netflix on 12th July 2023.
Set five years after the original, we have a new protagonist in the form of Riley Poverly, an environmental researcher who returns to her hometown to try and figure out what’s going on with the mysterious radio signals that are affecting local electronics. What awaits is another supernatural adventure that will see her interact with things that can manipulate time itself. Also there’s a cult.
“With OXENFREE II: Lost Signals, we wanted to tap into the essence and world that made the original game so special, while immersing players in a brand new story with even higher stakes,” said Sean Krankel, co-founder and studio director at Night School. “This game has been a labor of love, and we can’t wait for players to embody Riley, shaping her through life altering choices and overcoming supernatural challenges that threaten to destroy her future.”
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals was first announced in April 2021 with the aim to release the game that year. It was originally announced for PC and Switch, but in August 2021 it was confirmed that the game would be heading to PlayStation consoles. Then in September 2021, Night School Studio was acquired by Netflix, with the aim to create original titles with the support of the streaming company. Netflix subscribers will be able to play Oxenfree II as part of their regular subscription.
