Giving players meaningful choices has long been one of the more difficult things to do in gaming. Allow too much and it becomes difficult to provide truly different results. Give to little and players will likely wonder why the mechanic was included at all. It’s in striking that sweet spot right in the middle that the magic is found, and it’s looking like Don’t Nod’s Harmony: The Fall of Reverie has a good chance of bringing that magic to PC and Switch on June 8 and to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on June 22.
Harmony: The Fall of Reverie casts players as Polly, a young woman who, upon returning to her hometown in search of her mother, finds she has the power of clairvoyance. This isn’t just the usual “sense a person through an object” clairvoyance though. Rather, this new power pulls her into the world of “Reverie” wherein she’s known as “Harmony.”
In both Reverie and the real world, Polly will be faced with choices that will not only determine whether or not she finds her mother, but the direction humanity itself will follow into the future. This is just the basics though. For a a full breakdown of what’s to come, make sure to have a look at our full preview!
