In a development you don't see every day, following the closure of Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks, swarms of fans have expressed their outrage by positively review bombing the game on Steam. This reverse review bombing campaign has resulted in several thousand Positive new reviews rising to the top since the news of Bethesda's Microsoft-mandated restructure broke last week.
The closure of Tango, in particular, seems to have struck a chord within the broader gaming community, as it appears to have exposed the hypocrisy of Xbox's stated goals; the very next day, Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, held a town hall in which he said: «We need smaller games that give us prestige and awards.»
Founder Shinji Mikami commented on the untimely, sad demise of the small, prestigious studio. Tango project manager Kazuaki Egashira reminded us all of the awards Hi-Fi Rush had won and questioned why, along with apparently being a «breakout hit for us and our players in all key measurements and expectations» (according to <a href=«https://twitter.com/aarongreenberg/status/1649431572137779203?ref_src=» https:>Aaron Greenburg
, VP of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft), the studio had been closed.
