A Red Dead Redemption PC release is seemingly on the horizon, well over a decade since its original release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
This follows a recent Epic Games Store leak with backend data from Epic’s digital storefront being made available to the public via EpicDB (which is currently offline). This data included codenames for unannounced games – including a new Turok title and a Final Fantasy IX remake – as well as patch information, release dates, and file sizes.
Some details regarding the Red Dead Redemption PC port were also uncovered – specifically, the game’s file size. Codenamed “Semla” on the Epic Games Store, data shows that RDR will weigh in at just over 10GB when it launches on PC, presumably at some point in the near future.
Rockstar has yet to formally announce its acclaimed cowboy sim for PC, though last month a reference to the game was discovered within the Rockstar Games Launcher with a brief synopsis of the game and a mention of its Undead Nightmares expansion.
Originally released in 2010, Red Dead Redemption was made one of the first champions of the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility program with a 2018 update that added 4K and a smoother framerate. The beloved Rockstar classic was also ported to both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 last year, the latter version prompting fans to ask why a PS5 version running at 60 frames per second wasn’t also released.

We don’t often get masterpieces around here, but this is certainly one of those moments in time when gamers will look back more fondly on a dusty old six shooter than anything that involves jacking cars. The Wild West, then, is the new New York, and Rockstar have got their work cut out for them if they want Grand Theft Auto V to come anywhere near close to the majesty of Red Dead
