When Concord received its first proper gameplay showing at Sony’s State of Play showcase in May, widespread reception for the hero shooter was mixed at best, with many looking at the game’s seemingly rote offerings with a fair amount of skepticism. However, the game’s developers have defended their upcoming shooter by calling the trailer that was premiered in May a “tiny slice” of the game itself.
Speaking in a recent interview with VGC, when asked about Concord’s gameplay reveal trailer and the response to it, IP director Kim Kreines assured that there was much more to Concord, which has been in the works for “years and years”, than its May reveal suggested.
“Yeah, that trailer,” she said. “That moment is such a tiny slice of everything that we’ve been working on for years and years. We’re excited for the game and for the IP, and for the game to be in people’s hands.
“I’m very excited for folks to delve into the Galactic Guide if that’s something they choose to do, for our vignettes to come out on a weekly basis, they’ll start to fall in love with the depth of the characters. None of that is something you can get in a tiny little slice of it.”
Firewalk Studios and Sony recently announced that Concord’s open beta will run from July 18 to July 21, though those who pre-order the game will be able to jump in a week ahead of time, from July 12 to July 14.
Concord will launch in full for PS5 and PC on August 23.
