The cast of the upcoming young adult Star Trek series has officially been welcome to the Star Trek universe. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the Star Trek panel showcased a video of showrunner Alex Kurtzman telling the young cast that they got the roles.
Additionally, it was announced that Tig Notaro, Mary Wiseman, Oded Feher, and Robert Picardo would be reprising their Star Trek: Discovery roles for this new show.
SubtitledStarfleet Academy, the show will focus on a group of young cadets, training to join Starfleet. It’s all the alien sci-fi fun of Star Trek plus delicious high school drama. Bring on the love triangles and academic rivalries!
Starfleet Academy stars Kerrice Brooks (The Prom), Bella Shepard (Wolf Pack), George Hawkins (Tell Me Everything), Karim Diané (One Of Us Is Lying), and Zoë Steiner (Significant Others). Holly Hunter will play the academy’s chancellor, while Paul Giamatti plays the villain.
The show was originally announced in March 2023. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is helmed by Alex Kurtzman (who you might know from… most of the current Star Trek projects) and Noga Landau (The CW’sNancy Drew), which seems like the perfect blend of current Star Trek and CW YA sensibilities. It’s set to launch on Paramount Plus sometime in 2026.
