This will test your knowledge of the dictionary, as you have to come up with words of a certain length as opposed to shorter words. This can make it much more difficult to come up with a wider variety of words, but you will want to do your best to get the highest score possible.
The New York Times Vertex game asks you to form a picture by connecting dots, but you have to understand the image to solve this puzzle quickly.

Personally, I feel like all of these words are more different than the category suggests. I do not PLASTER my wall the same way I'd COAT a cake with icing. Even then, I would not CAKE on makeup the same way eyeliner can get SMEARed. It's just not the same. However, they do have a similar vibe of covering something else, and I can see why they are all in this category, even if I'm skeptical about it.
