I thought there was something FUNNY going on when I saw these words, and it turned out I was right! All of these words have a «Peculiar» connotation in their meanings.

Having ended up in a lot of peculiar situations myself, I was able to guess this category quite quickly. It might also just be the writer in me that wants to come up with as many different words for the same meaning as possible.
