The upcoming live-action Dora the Explorer film has found its Diego for the film tentatively titled .
According to a recent report from Deadline, up-and-comer Jacob Rodriguez (Tell Me Lies) will play Diego, Dora’s cousin, in the upcoming movie. Diego was first introduced in the children’s cartoon series in the animated spin-off series Go, Diego, Go!
The film, which currently has the working title of Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado, is being directed by Alberto Belli, who previously made 2022’s Gatlopp and 2023’s The Naughty Nine. The screenplay comes from J.T. Billings.
“The script follows as Dora, her cousin Diego and their new friends trek through perilous dangers of the Amazonian jungle in search of the ancient treasure of Sol Dorado in order to keep this powerful treasure out of enemy hands,” The Hollywood Reporter’s description of the film reads. “Swiper no swiping!”
Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado will be the second time that Dora the Explorer has gotten the live-action treatment. Isabela Merced, who is now playing Hawkgirl in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, portrayed the character in 2019’s Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
