A Nintendo Switch Lite OLED mod has been in the works for a few months, and a few hours ago we got the very first look at it, and at how much of an improvement it is over the regular Lite model's screen.
The first proper look at the OLED mod for the handheld-only model of the current Nintendo console came from a video shared by the mod's creator Taki Udon, who showcased the OLED screen with Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and compared it with a regular Switch Lite and Switch OLED. Using the same Vivid profile used in the regular OLED model, the colors look more saturated than on a regular Lite and generally much better.
As showcased by multiple systems in the past, an OLED screen is always the better choice, but not every manufacturer is willing to go with one, at least for a system's first iteration. Having received no hardware revision, the Nintendo Switch Lite is among those systems stuck with an LCD screen, and with the console being at the end of its cycle, the only option for those who want a better screen will be to get this mod. Hopefully, Nintendo will launch its next system with an OLED screen from the get-go, although it is hard to say at this time if it will be the case due to contradicting information.
