is opening up about how “tough” it will be to return for Season 3, following the passing of her co-star Angus Cloud and executive producer Kevin Turen.
The Cuckoo actress has portrayed Jules Vaughn since Euphoria debuted in 2019. She starred alongside Cloud, who played Fezco “Fez” O’Neill. Sadly, the actor passed away at the age of 25 in 2023. Turen, on the other hand, died in the same year. He was 44.
While the third season has faced several setbacks, Euphoria Season 3 is officially underway. However, Schafer thinks it will be “tough” for her to return given what has happened since the Season 3 initial renewal back in 2022.
“You can ask literally all of the cast. The real tea is that a lot has happened,” Schafer said in an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, referring to the passing of Cloud and Turen.
She continued, “I think everyone feels a certain sense of anticipation for if we are supposed to do Season 3. Obviously, I’m still coming to qualms about what’s happened and losing people that we really loved and were a part of this family and everything. If we do go back, that’s going to be tough.”
In addition to Schafer, the principle cast members of the hit teen drama are confirmed to be returning for Season 3, including Zendaya as Rue Bennet, Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard, Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard, Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, and more.
An American adaptation of an Israeli show of the same name, “Euphora follows a group of high school students as they navigate love and friendships in a world of drugs, sex, trauma and social media,” per the show’s logline.
Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Max.
