is still a possibility in some form or another, according to series co-creator Bill Lawrence.
Speaking to Collider about his new show, Bad Monkey, Lawrence was asked about the future of the beloved Apple TV Plus show and whether there was a chance for Ted Lasso Season 4.
“Groupthink sometimes happens, even without talking to each other, and every actor, actress, writer, producer on that show — and [we didn’t get] together and decide this was the message — we all loved the experience. As fans, we’d all kill if it was going again, but everybody would say the same thing, which is: whatever Jason [Sudeikis] feels like doing and whatever his decision is, we’re all down with it .”
“Not only is he the star, he’s the head writer, and he’s also the dude whose life just has to be completely overhauled and moved to a foreign country with young children.” Lawrence continued, “It’s a big deal. So, as a fan, if someone’s like, ‘Oh, it’s gonna happen again,’ I’ll go nuts. As a partner, I’m down for whatever he wants to do.”
Ted Lasso tells the story of the titular college football coach heading to England to manage the struggling Premier League soccer side AFC Richmond. Over the three seasons, the Fish out of Water coach endures all manner of obstacles, but uses his formidable positivity to overcome them.
Ted Lasso Season 3 did appear to put a fairly definitive pin in the show, with Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso heading back to the US, leaving AFC Richmond in the hands of former player Roy kent (Brett Goldstein). However, being a show about a soccer team, next season could bring so many new stories.
Could we see how AFC Richmond gets on under the management of Roy Kent? Or perhaps follow the launch of a Women’s side? With The FIFA World Cup being held in the US in 2026, perhaps we could see Ted Lasso take his national side to possible glory.
There’s certainly room for Ted Lasso Season 4 or any number of spin-offs, but it clearly comes down to what Sudekis thinks is best for the show’s
