Gamescom Opening Night Live producer Geoff Keighley has stated that Hollow Knight: Silksong won’t make an appearance at the show.
In a post on X, the producer – who also produces Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards – warned fans that the game won’t be there.
“Just to get this out of the way, no Silksong on Tuesday at ONL,” he wrote. “Team Cherry Games is still cooking.”
In recent years, every time a showcase or a digital event from a big publisher is held, fans quickly begin to speculate and hope that Hollow Knight: Silksong, the sequel to the beloved Hollow Knight, will make a reappearance.
This has become such a meme in recent years that the terms ‘Hollow Knight’ and ‘Silksong’, regularly trend on X after every Nintendo Direct or similar presentation.
Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced in February 2019 and is due to be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Back in May 2023, Team Cherry delayed the game from a planned release in the first half of 2023 to an unspecified launch window.
According to its developer, Silksong will feature a brand new kingdom, over 150 different enemies and a Silk Soul mode, a new difficulty setting that greatly changes the game after the first playthrough.
Players control Hornet, a “princess-protector of Hallownest”, and adventure through a kingdom “ruled by silk and song”.
