Geoff Keighley once again kicked off Gamescom with his Opening Night Live event.
This year, the announcements and gameplay reveals were dominated by 2K and Microsoft. The former announced Gearbox's Borderlands 4, which is set to come out in 2025, as well as Mafia: The Old Country from Hangar13.
That's on top of another trailer for Civilization 7, which is launching on February 11th, 2025.
Xbox, meanwhile, revealed that its eagerly-awaited Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to launch on December 9th, while the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield is rolling out on September 30th. Polish firm Techland is making a new entry in the Dying Light franchise simply dubbed The Beast. This started out as DLC for Dying Light 2 but has been spun off into its own game now.
Amazon showed a trailer for that Secret Level animated anthology of video game shorts which was rumoured earlier in the week. It's set to have episodes featuring Armored Core (!!!), God of War, Mega Man, Pac-Man and Warhammer 40,000.
Peter Molyneux is also back in game development and is working on a new god game – Masters of Albion – that looks to draw from his work on the likes of Fable, Black and White and Dungeon Keeper.
Coffee Stain is launching a remaster of its 2014 smash hit Goat Simulator later this year, while NetEase is rolling out its hero shooter Marvel Rivals on December 6th. Little Nightmares maker Tarsier Studios also announced that it is working on a new horror adventure (gasp) called Reanimal.
