Nintendo’s upcoming The Legend of Zelda title, Echoes of Wisdom, appears to have leaked online two weeks ahead of its official release date.
This weekend, images and videos of people seemingly playing the unreleased game were being circulated on social media. At least one video showing the start of the game was removed from YouTube via a Nintendo copyright claim.
It’s likely that, as has happened with many first-party Nintendo titles in the recent past, that Zelda is being circulated on illegal ROM sites, so fans looking to go in spoiler-free should be cautious when browsing online.
It’s far from the first time a first-party Nintendo Switch game has leaked in this manner. Previously, Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl made it into public hands nearly two weeks before their releases.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also appeared on ROM-sharing sites almost two weeks before its official release. More recently, Super Mario Bros. Wonder also began circulating online ahead of its release.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released on September 26, alongside a new Zelda edition Nintendo Switch Lite console.
“While exploring the Still World Zelda will find a mysterious sword allowing her to transform into a powerful Swordfighter form for a short time and battle enemies head-on,” Nintendo’s description of the game reads.
“With its mighty power, she can forge ahead when her path is blocked, strike down enemies on her own, and battle alongside echoes. The sword’s gauge can be replenished by collecting energy found in the Still World.”
