Julianne Moore, Milly Alcock, and Meghann Fahy are all set for lead roles in the upcoming Netflix series. Described as a dark comedy, the project hails from Maid creator Molly Smith Meltzer and is based on her play Elemeno Pea.
The Oscar-winning Moore, who recently starred in May December and the Starz show Mary & George, will play Michaela Kell. A philanthropist and animal activist, Moore’s character is comfortable in high society and is the wife of billionaire Peter Kell. Alcock, known for her role as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, plays Simone DeWitt. In addition to being Michaela’s assistant, Simone is described as charming and smart. She feels as though she’s hit the jackpot by working with Michaela.
Fahy, who broke out as Daphne in The White Lotus Season 2, portrays Devon DeWitt. On a downward spiral back in her hometown, Devon is described as funny, resilient, and fiercely protective. That’s especially true when it comes to her younger sister, Simone.
Told over the course of a weekend at a lavish beach estate, the dark comedy zeroes in on Devon when she starts to realize that her sister Simone has a very creepy relationship with her new boss Michaela Kell. Perceived as an enigmatic socialite, Michaela’s cult-like approach to a life of luxury is like a drug to Simone. Eventually, however, Devon decides that it’s time for an intervention. But once Devon tracks Simone down to confront her, she has no clue what a formidable opponent Michaela will be.
