We've finally arrived at the Summer Game Fest 2024 week, and host Geoff Keighley has provided some advance info for fans in a Twitch Q&A. To begin with, Keighley tried to temper expectations, saying there won't be many shocking announcements this year:
One of the things you'll see with the Summer Game Fest show this week is that we've really tried to program some unexpected things with smaller teams and independent studios alongside the sort of big blockbuster games and franchises that you will see in the show as well, but I think what's cool about our industry right now is that it's a great time where small games can really get significant success as we've seen. I think it's going to be a little bit quieter this Summer when it comes to crazy new announcements and shocking surprises and things like that. That's one of the things I always see online: the crazy speculation. Just like last week with the State of Play, people went in with crazy expectations. I see all this stuff, even around Summer Game Fest, and I think it's going to be a good, solid show, but we're not going to have a new GTA 6 trailer for you. I know sometimes when I see the feedback online people have lots of crazy that they get excited about. Hopefully, we will deliver on some of those things, but I'm sure many things we won't. Hopefully what happens is that people tune in and find something that surprises them.
Keighley also talked specifically about games that will or won't be at Summer Game Fest 2024. In the first category, gamers can expect to see a new Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 trailer, a new Metaphor: Refantazio trailer, a new Monster Hunter Wilds trailer, and a new Batman: Arkham Shadow trailer. On the other hand, don't get your hopes up to see Kingdom Hearts 4, Metal Gear Solid: Delta, The Wolf Among Us 2, and Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Keighley's Summer Game Fest 2024 will go live on
