Spider-Man 2 is one of this year's biggest games, and PlayStation is going all out to plaster the faces of Peter Parker and Miles Morales on every bus, bench, and billboard it can find. It's a company that's never been shy of promoting its titles in both standard and ridiculous ways, although a new cereal box stunt is an example of PlayStation starting to take the biscuit.
For the release of Spider-Man 2, PlayStation appears to have teamed up with food manufacturer General Mills to release a limited-run of Spider-Man 2 Wheaties cereal boxes. These boxes are double-sided, with Peter Parker on the front and Miles Morales on the back, both wearing their signature suits. It's a pretty neat cereal box, something that a lot of companies have done to promote movies and games in the past, but the problem this time is that the box costs $45.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that you shouldn't be spending $45 on a box of cereal, though General Mills will likely point to the extra little additions you get to justify the price tag. Included in the box is the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 prequel comic, as well as a code for an exclusive digital collectible version of the cereal box you can redeem through the PlayStation Stars loyalty program.
The only trouble with that is the value of these items. For starters, the comic included in the box was already given out as part of Free Comic Book Day earlier this year, and you can read the entire comic for free on the official Marvel website.
