Insomniac has built upon the Manhattan of the series' previous titles to add new areas and has also included the East River and other boroughs such as Queens and Brooklyn, areas that hold plenty of significance for both Peter and Miles being their respective hometowns. With such a larger map, it makes sense that the game would include fast travel like the past games to get from one area to another quickly, but Insomniac has taken this mechanic to a whole new level.

Fast Travel is not a new feature in open-world games and has been handled in a variety of ways over the years.
