If there's one thing you can't criticise Insomniac Games for, it's a lack of comic book appreciation. Spider-Man 2 is absolutely full to the brim with comic book references, whether that be the dozens of suits paying homage to Spider-Man stories both old and new, or the inclusion of certain villains that have never been portrayed in interactive media before. Certain parts of Spider-Man 2's story are also very reminiscient of different comic book runs.
It's nice to see Insomniac diving into Spider-Man's rich comic book history for potential video game ideas, however fans are becoming increasingly irritated with the developer due to the lack of credit it's been giving comic book creators. In particular, many are currently up in arms over the Venom arc in Spider-Man 2, and how the original creators behind the ideas Insomniac has used aren't featured in the game's ending credits. If you're bothered about big end game spoilers, now's your time to dip.

If you're a big web-head, you're probably quite familiar with the story beats towards the back end of Spider-Man 2. Harry Osborne, having taken the symbiote from Peter Parker and gone full Venom, unleashes a full-scale symbiote invasion of New York. Upon finally confronting Venom, the hulking black mass sprouts an intimidating pair of wings during the final showdown. Both of these ideas first featured in a comic book run by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman, yet neither appear in the game's end credits.
