News from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake only gets worse, as it's now reported that the game isn't even being worked on right now.
This is according to Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb, who brought the ill-fated remake up on his podcast, Game Mess Mornings. Here, he says that no studio is working on the game right now, even after it was reported that a new team was assigned to the project.
“I just want to clear it up, this game is not being worked on right now,” says Grubb, as spotted by Insider Gaming. “Just full stop. This game is not being worked on in any way, at any studio.”
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was revealed on September 9, 2021. Since then, we haven't been shown any gameplay or even any other cinematic teasers as proof that the game is still in development.
Grubb continues, bringing up the recent development of Sony deleting the reveal trailer from its YouTube channel. "I don't think this is news to most of you. Sony stepping away, and scrubbing mentions of Knights of the Old Republic from social media and YouTube - you can put two and two together there. But just to 100% confirm it, this game is not being worked on right now."
Shortly after fans noticed that the trailer had been removed, Sony said this was due to copyright issues with the music used in the teaser. However, given Grubb's wording here, that may not have been the full story.
The KOTOR Remake was originally in development at Aspyr Media, the company that has been responsible for re-releasing the first two KOTOR games on modern hardware.
