Insomniac Games has confirmed which of its two Spider-Men is the main Spidey moving forward following the events at the end of Spider-Man 2.
As is the case with most Marvel properties nowadays, the ending of Spider-Man 2 sets up many things for the future and leaves us with just as many questions as it does answers. One of the main things answered in the final hours is which Spider-Man is mainly going to be taking charge of protecting New York City, something that Insomniac Games has now given more detail on. Spider-Man 2's ending not only makes it clear which of the two Spideys is going to be New York City's main protector, but it also hints at other people taking up the Spider mantle.
After struggling with his identity because of the symbiote's influence for most of the game, Spider-Man 2 ends with Peter Parker taking a step back from the mask and focusing on building up the Emily-May Foundation. This leaves Miles Morales as New York's only Spider-Man for a while, which is confirmed as he swings off to save the day while Peter remains at his house with MJ.
Although this was a pretty concrete ending that made it fairly clear that Peter Parker was going to be taking a backseat and finally getting on with his own life in potential future Spider-Man games, Spider-Man 2's narrative director Ben Arfmann and advanced writer Brittney Morris have expanded on the ending more in a recent interview with Gizmodo.
